Cold-Rolled Steel

Cold-rolled steel is essentially hot-rolled steel with additional rolling. After the hot steel has been rolled and cooled, it is rolled again at room temperature for more accurate dimensions and a better surface finish; when the steel is rolled at room temperature, the metallurgy changes.

The benefits of cold-rolled steel are smoother finishes, closer tolerances, and increased steel hardness and rigidity. Cold-rolled steel is typically used in automotive, aerospace, and home appliances.
